NaturalReader Text to Speech: Convert Any Text to TTS Review
NaturalReader Text to Speech is the most frequently downloaded freeware TTS module for mobile devices. It lets you convert a wide range of text documents into real-time speech in over 20 languages. It provides over 50 professionally-recorded male and female voices. You can use it for anything from pranks to ebook reading! To download NaturalReader Text to Speech, visit App Store or Google Play.
Functionality – 5/5
The default version of the NaturalReader app includes 50 voice packages in 20 languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Greek, Polish, and many more. It can read almost any text format, including PDF, TXT, PPT, RTF, DOC, HTML, and even eBooks. Some books may not be opened because they have DRM protection. It goes to the majority of titles from iBooks, Nook, Kindle, OverDrive, and other stores.
Design – 5/5
NaturalReader latest version has a convenient file browser that looks like a bookshelf in iBooks. You can sort files by type, date and size for faster navigation. If you need to play web pages or the text from your head or notepad, you can just paste the text or a URL in.
Usability – 4.5/5
NaturalReader iOS and Android app allows you to play your favorite books while working out, or listen to the latest letters in the inbox on the go. You can also listen to web-pages directly, which is a perfect way to read long articles while doing something else. The app is compatible with popular cloud services, including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud. It lets you download files directly to the app quickly. Files with common access, such as Google Docs documents, are supported too. Talking about ebooks, it’s useful only if you buy EPUB books without DRM protection.
Cross-platform use – 5/5
You can install NaturalReader Text to Speech on Android 5.0+ and iOS 9.0+ devices. You can get a desktop version to have more features, including crystal clear voices, the MP3/WAV converter, and many more.
The free NaturalReader provides you with all the basic features in all languages, but you can’t use them offline. You can purchase access to better quality audio and buy one of 6 offline English and 1 French package. Other languages are being added.
The Bottom Line
NaturalReader Text to Speech is an incredibly useful instrument for avid readers, sportsmen, people with sight issues, and anyone else who wants to listen to texts on their devices instead of reading. It sounds quite robotic, but it’s still the best free solution for such a huge variety of formats. We didn’t detect other problems while testing the app for this NaturalReader Text to Speech review.
