Movies Diary: Keep Track of Your Viewing Experiences Review
Movies Diary is a digital notepad for true movie lovers who want to record all their impressions and share them with the community. Tell what you think about the latest premier, look for people who like the same titles, and add movies to the wishlist. You can download Movies Diary for iOS on the App Store and Android on Google Play.
Functionality – 5/5
Movies Diary latest version allows you to search for movies in the library, add them to the wishlist or to the hate-list in case you don’t want to see them in the feed anymore. You can also jot down movies that you saw in cinemas and leave your feedback.
Design – 4/5
Movies Diary app interface is convenient enough, but it doesn’t provide you with the needed entertaining effect. Perhaps, that’s because it looks more like a system utility than an app dedicated to films. You can access all sections from the main menu quite quickly, but it always takes some time to get back. It’s easy on Android devices due to on-screen buttons, but you have to hold your phone with 2 hands to press the small button at the top right corner.
Usability – 4/5
Movies Diary tends to be a universal planner for cinema fans and a social network to connect them. Testing the app for two weeks for this Movies Diary review showed that it couldn’t deal with everything. If you use it only as a notebook for personal reviews and notes, it’s perfect. As for the social features, it’s almost useless. You’re not likely to find many people online, and they’re not active most of the time. The reason for that is poor logic of interactions. You can share your opinions, but there’s no social feed for discovering these reviews. As a result, you don’t know what others post, so do they.
Cross-platform use – 4.5/5
You can install Movies Diary apps on iOS 8.0, Android 4.0, and all newer versions. It’s logical to make a web version for this app, but CrowdM decided not to do it for some reason. If you install this app on several devices and log in, they will synchronize data quite fast.
The free Movies Diary version allows you to use all features without limitations. It’s supported by advertisements that appear quite often, but there’s no option to remove them. There’s only a free subscription option and no extra offers.
The Bottom Line
Movies Diary is based on an excellent idea and may come in handy if you want to track the pictures you watch and highlight the ones you want to see later. There’s almost nothing to do with it in other cases, so we consider it as just another option for making notes. It’s free and simple, so maybe you should give it a try. It’s a unique concept, but it definitely needs many improvements.
