BeatMaker 3: Professional Beat Studio Review
BeatMaker 3 is a mobile music production studio by Intua. It provides you environment and instruments to play, record, and perform music live. This intuitive workflow includes 128 pads with banks that you can program any way you like. To download BeatMaker 3 for iPad, visit the App Store on your device.
Functionality – 5/5
The BeatMaker 3 app is a MIDI-driven workstation that has convenient multi-dimensional pads together with 128 programmable memory banks. Every pad has up to 8 sends and carries an unlimited number of effects. Using the integrated sequencer, you can create automated patterns and edit the entire song timeline.
Design – 5/5
At first glance, BeatMaker 3 latest version may look a bit cumbersome and complicated, but it’s not like that at all. Even though it’s a professional-level music instrument, it doesn’t overwhelm you with details. Unlike desktop software, it doesn’t have the doubling buttons and doesn’t hide anything too far from your workflow.
Usability – 5/5
BeatMaker 3 iOS studio has everything that you might need for making juicy beats. The huge library of beat-machines and other instruments makes it suitable for every genre from Oldschool classics to brand new genres. You can even invent your own! If you lack effects and instruments, you can integrate a variety of other apps with synths and effects via AUv3 and IAA channels. It can sync even with pro recording software like Ableton Link, which opens almost unlimited opportunities for beat-making. BeatMaker 3 has a proprietary sampling engine with a layering system and a wide range of live-performance tools. Everything is situated right where you expect it to be, so it’s very easy to learn and produce music without whistles and bells.
Cross-platform use – 4/5
Unfortunately, you can install BeatMaker 3 only on iPads running iOS 10.0 or later. There’re no versions for iPhone and Android devices. Perhaps that’s because iPads are the most stable portable devices on the market, and it’s the biggest argument for any musician. Compatibility with other apps on the device and a computer makes it universal anyway. For this BeatMaker 3 review, we also connected it to speakers with iRig, and it worked perfectly well.
There’s no free BeatMaker 3 app. The basic version of the bundle costs $24.99, and you can purchase additional instruments and plugins for $4.99 each. The app isn’t supported by adverts, so it’s comfortable to use it for long hours.
The Bottom Line
BeatMaker 3 is a highly professional beat-making instrument that can become an inevitable part of your studio and stage gear. It has a convenient iPad interface and a wide range of compatible third-party applications.
Download BeatMaker 3 and unleash your beat-making skills wherever you go on a truly professional level.
